A natural-gas generator requires a stable fuel supply and a maintained ignition system in addition to the common engine, cooling and electrical checks. Service intervals and procedures must come from the confirmed engine and generator documentation. Gas work requires qualified personnel and compliance with local requirements.

Verify the fuel supply condition
Record gas pressure across operating conditions and investigate changes from the approved specification. Qualified personnel should inspect regulators, valves, flexible connections and leak-detection arrangements. Never search for a gas leak with a flame.

Maintain ignition and combustion inputs
Follow the engine schedule for spark plugs, ignition components, filters and valve-related checks. Record misfire, unstable speed, abnormal exhaust condition or starting difficulty. Fuel composition changes should be reported before adjusting the configuration.

Inspect shared generator systems
Check lubrication, coolant, radiator, battery, charger, wiring, mounts, ventilation and exhaust condition. Natural-gas fuel does not remove the need for routine engine and alternator inspection or for clear service access around the enclosure.

Run a controlled functional test
Test starting, stabilization, alarms, shutdowns and representative load under an approved procedure. Record voltage, frequency, load, temperatures and any abnormal behavior. Coordinate transfer testing with the facility so the test itself does not create an unacceptable interruption.
