Record every inspection
Keep date, engine hours, starts, alarms, leaks, fluid levels, battery readings and corrective work in one log. A trend is more useful than an isolated check. Record the exact filters, fluids and parts installed so future service can identify what changed.

Protect fuel and starting readiness
Inspect stored diesel for water, contamination and aging according to the site fuel plan. Check tank, lines, connections and containment. Maintain the starting battery and charger, because a healthy engine cannot provide standby power if cranking voltage is inadequate.

Inspect cooling, air and exhaust
Look for coolant leaks, hose deterioration, blocked radiator surfaces, loose belts and restricted air intake. Check exhaust connections, supports and insulation. Dusty or hot sites may require more frequent attention than a generic calendar interval.

Test under representative load
No-load exercise confirms only part of the system. Use a safe, approved loaded-test plan to observe voltage, frequency, temperature, pressure, smoke and alarms, and to verify transfer operation where applicable. Qualified personnel must define the test and address abnormal results.
